Faster – Final Scene…

=============================================================

“Faster…”

It all rushed forward, darkness that encompassed the stars became albescent. Complete white space fractured, turned into fiber-optic streams, infinite points of colored light, the rainbow overcame her and Arshira sighed under its soothing warmth.

Guyrin’Rla vanished, to leave Arshira alone, afloat in the ocean of streaming color.

“Welcome home Frederika.”

Arshira’s lips parted, before her stood a figure enshrouded in a robe of light vestments. The luminescent outline removed its hood, she beheld a bearded Sharr. “Are you… are you Sharr?”

The being smiled, shook its head and said: “No, this avatar is just one I’m very fond of, and I knew you would enjoy seeing it one final time.”

“So, I’m dead.” Arshira fanned her opalescent wings, angelic and airy, for the first time in her life she felt unburdened, at rest. “Are you God?”

A twinkle in the figures blue-grey right eye became a starburst, the being of light mirthfully roared, all around the two individuals, Wyrd’s candescent threads sung a song that resounded across space-time.

Zero?

I like this look for Cobra Commander.

File this under, future story ideas…

Musing new ways to go about expanding, and adding layers to my overlapping universe, which includes The Falcanian Legacy Series, Imogen Drake, and Caliburn Cycle, I thought up a character who would simply be called ‘Zero’.

Zero would be a mystery, and a linchpin, and more importantly a time traveler.

Is Zero male, or female? I am not sure, nor would the reader know for sure either - because when Zero first appears – likely within the body of a book which at first blush would seem to be about established characters,  he, she, or it, would be wearing an outfit similar to Cobra Commander’s in the photo.  The difference is, it would be white – perhaps with blue technological highlights – a silver face mask very close to the Commander’s which would conceal their identity, and Falcanian tri-claws – though, one should not jump to assume that Zero is Falcanian, Imogen Drake uses claw boots as well and, though she’s Sharr Khan‘s twin sister – she’s also human.

I have a few candidates for who Zero actually is. They could very well be a character who already appeared in a published book, perhaps someone who is seeking redemption for themselves… or a descendant of a character who already appeared. Though it’s just as possible Zero turns out to be an entirely new character, whose link to the overlapping universe simply came about by a chance encounter with godlike technology which allows them to jump about time/space to do good, but also leaving a bit of chaos in their wake.

We’ll have to see where this goes.

First Of Her Class!

[Above Mars: Falcanian Orbital Construction Facility]

Vivid blue, gold racing stripes marked its compact, tine wrought hull, FS-Vor Kiral Kra soared upward, out of the Martian atmosphere, flanked by three X-Wing Mark 1 Warhawk starfighters headed for the construction platform where the final assembly of the new battleships was underway. On the command deck of his daughter’s ship, the Shotar peered out the forward window as the FS-Vor Kiral Kra rotated, to bring itself into line with the nearest battleship. Lost deep in thought, hands behind his back, Sharr’s armored tail casually swayed while he watched the docking maneuver. A groan from his side caused Sharr to turn away from the expanse of space, to glance with concern at the woman who waited beside him. Ah yes! Aria, his beloved, rebooted human lover, she hated space travel. True, at first, like most she had been intrigued by it, but unluckily enough, on Aria’s first ever off planet expedition, the gravity on their yacht failed. From then on Aria despised going off planet.

The new battleships could be discerned among silver latticework, keels highlighted by spotlights. Long hulls, like that of a rifle with a bayonet at its point made it clear these new vessels were in truth weapons platforms, which centered on a forward main gun. At the rear, three huge thrusters charged hot-blue ready to take the ship into deep space. Large nacelles, much like an FS-9’s atmospheric jets housed maneuvering thrusters were mounted on pylons, starboard and portside. A domed conning tower surmounted the mid-dorsal of the craft. And most striking of all, attached on the FX-24’s prow were a single-edged blade located beneath the space battleship’s ‘Shiva Starparticle cannon, meant to house the battleship’s main sensors.

The FS-Vor Kiral Kra began its docking sequence, an airlock system cycled, and a series of doors opened and closed for the FS-Vor Kiral Kra to enter and land under the great blade where the main Raptor and Nemesis starfighter bays had been placed. Presently the forward winged spaceship adjusted its VTOL engines to nestle itself along side dozens of its sister ships in one of the alcoves that lined the bulkhead of the hanger deck. Where also piles of pronged shaped Nemesis-Class starfighters had been stacked.

A lift brought the crew of the FS-Vor Kiral Kra down to the lower hanger bay where they were greeted by the supreme overseer of the FX-24 Project: Grand Admiral Arodsur Krag. “T’Saar!” Saluted the Grand Admiral. Arodsur Krag, like most Falcanian males had facial hair, in this case a trimmed auburn beard that ended in two braided points. He wore a black jodtok, decorated with many markers of his supreme rank. “Welcome aboard the IFV Arshira’s Ascension !” Boomed Arodsur. “The first of her class.”

From Under A Raptor’s Wings

Nadia – NSFW!!!

I have been reworking book 2, of The Falcanian Legacy Series book covers. I figured as Frederika gets heavily featured in ‘On the Forge of War’ – both in the story as well in various incarnations on different covers, its only right to place Sharr’s first wife, and queen Nadia, called T’Kara on the next book cover. Also she takes on an active role in shaping things on a political level in ‘Under A Raptor’s Wings’. The teaser cover actually has the bad guy on it, but it was seeming very flat…

This is not a cover, only a character portrait. Mmm… women featured on two book covers. Now I’m not sure what I’ll be doing for the third book. The teaser cover currently has ummm a male, who is very important to the story.

It’s almost a pity I’ll have to put clothes on her for the final version. ;)

“Give me five minutes.”

Nadia Bjorlin

“Give me five minutes.” She said.
The service had just ended everyone was leaving the inner temple. Groups of worshippers clustered about the atrium where Sharr stood with Nadia. He was incredibly rigid, not at ease and she was perfectly casual and beaming, in fact getting some amusement out of the waves of tension coming off her companion.
“Ah… OK.” He said sounding nervous. Sharr hadn’t really made sense out of the fact that the Korelia’s daughter had basically talked him into joining her at temple following the meeting at GenKon hours ago, not that his friends hadn’t more or less helped her in that regard, especially Oswald.
Nadia slung a duffel bag over her shoulder, reached out and patted Sharr on the cheek.
“Don’t be so worried, everything will be fine.” Assured Nadia in her softly accented voice almost giggling. Smiling she turned on her heel and made for the lady’s room.
Sharr found that he felt like an outsider here not that anyone had made him feel unwelcome, the opposite was true to be certain the temple priest himself had greeted him upon seeing Nadia guide him to the sanctum. There certainly were very few Anglos around. Most were a varied mix of Indians from all walks of life here in Connecticut. It was just his nature to not be at ease.
Five minutes in truth became twenty odd minutes. Sharr spent the time studying the crowd that was thinning at the moment. He sat back on a chair and listened to the conversations going on all around him.
“Hey!”
Opening his eyes the young Shotar was stunned.
Nadia was a chameleon. She had changed from her Lehnga-choli to a pair of low-cut navel showing, black denim jeans with a red off the shoulder top that had unusual slits down the arms revealing her cinnamon complexion.
She’d toned back the make-up as well, now wearing only glossy pink lipstick and kajal on her eyes. As for her thick braid, she had unbound it allowing the rapunzel-like curls to cascade all around her beaming face, held in place with only two black barrettes. Bangles jangled on her right arm and a jade ring was on her left pointer finger. Girl next door is what came to mind upon looking at Nadia now.
“WOW!” Mouthed the Shotar it was like she was a completely different girl. Both looks were appealing to him however.
“Aren’t you glad you gave me five minutes?” Nadia asked clearly teasing. She knew that she would need to be playful with this one, there was so much always on his mind that he might miss what was right in front of him well dealing with the shadow that lingered in his soul.

Lunch Date

“Get down here, were going to be late!”

“Coming papa, fixing my hair.”

Ambika smiled.  “She sounds awfully excited about going to work this morning.”

“I’d wager that’s more to do that she and Sharr are going to lunch this afternoon.”  Nodded Turhan gathering together his own lunch, mustamakkara sausages and lingonberry jam.  His wife despised them but they were one of Turhan’s favorites.

The clomp, clomp, clomp of heavy female shoes signaled that at last Nadia was descending from her room.

“Finally.” closing the refrigerator door Turhan turned, look at his daughter just entering the kitchen.

“No.  That skirt is much too short.”  Dr. Sen insisted “Go change.” looking at the pinstriped skirt Nadia wore with disapproval which reached way above  her knees, never mind the revealing slit at her right hip.

Turhan groaned, yet didn’t offer his own opinion about Nadia’s attire.

Mirrored-glass slanted at a hard right angle, the art piece glistened with beads of water that spurted upward and then cascaded over its smooth surface falling back into a fountain pool.  Sharr thought it perfectly atrocious, likely really expensive.  Pretentious modern art was not his thing.  He waited for his girlfriend at the center of GenKon’s lobby contemplating his reflection in the shiny piece of art, arms crossed over his chest.

Behind Sharr she came up, nuzzled him put her arms up under his angled Falcanian styled trench coat.  They kissed.

“Err you’re grumpy!” Nadia sensed.

Before responding Sharr took a moment to admire his girlfriend’s attire: Short pinstriped skirt, slit up the right revealing a suggestion of tan thigh, brown hair pulled up and pinned back crowning her head and thick strappy heels.  Of course Nadia wasn’t without her black rimmed glasses, the pools that were her almond blue eyes stared into his soul as she pouted at him.

“Maybe a little, yes.” dryly admitted the Phoenix Project leader.

Arching a brow Nadia said: “Then I take it you quit.” This was good news, at least for her.  Aria wouldn’t be around to rub salt in Sharr’s wounds.  Hopefully that would in time make him a happy man.

“Yes” Sharr cleared his throat.  “Very little point working a job that I hate.  Given my recent luck why bother?” he put his arm around her waist.  “ThunderHawk Enterprises is a go!”

His monetary gain had done little to brighten Sharr’s mood.  The source of that income appeared to Nadia to cause some resentment in her boyfriend who suddenly found himself rather well off.  “Think of it like this, you’ll get to do all those things you want thanks to that trust fund from your father.” She leaned against her boyfriend.  “At least he made provisions for you.”

“Yet I feel like I’ve made a deal with the devil.”

“I was right you are grumpy.” Nadia patted his cheek.  “You’ve given a chunk of that cash to Vance to let him set up his own lab that’s a good thing.”

“I did.  He deserves it.” Things were indeed inverted, Nadia and Vance Turner in agreement about something.

“My point is, now you’re on the road you want to be, we all are.  Your father can be damned for all his absence.” Nadia hoped to place this windfall into perspective for him.

Taking her chin Sharr said: “Odd timing that cheque, that letter.  It talks about you and your parents.”

Having read it herself Nadia was more than aware of the letters contents.  True it was strange her family should have been mentioned and as curious an event as it was there was no way to follow-up on where either the cheque or letter had originated.

“It’s very weird, can’t help but think I’m being manipulated.” Sharr’s instincts were working over time regarding this matter.  “Something just isn’t right.”

“You’re being paranoid –“

“Sorry to interrupt.” Oberon Kreis stepped out of the shadow of the piece of glass artwork that dominated GenKon’s lobby.  “This must be the man who’s stolen our young Dr. Korelia’s heart.”

Nadia turned and said: “Oberon I’d like you to meet Roderik Visal.” Leaning her head on Sharr’s arm Nadia told him.  “Oberon Kreis is Chief of Security here at GenKon.”

Sharr offered his hand, said: “Nice to meet you Oberon.” He examined the dueling scar that stood out on Kreis’s left cheek it was he knew a mark of a German aristocrat.

“Und great to at last meet you Roderik,” Kreis smiled his wolfish grin taking his brother’s hand.  “I’ve heard so much about you.” He winked.  “Nadia can’t stop telling her lab partners how wonderful her boyfriend is.”

“Oh.” That was news Sharr had no idea his girlfriend talked him up so much.  “Usually I hear about all the wonderful things she and her lab are developing, I suspect though Nadia’s not telling me half the good stuff, corporate secrets and all.”

“Our little corporate secret Dr. Nadia Korelia, we expect great things to come from her rather… unique mind.” Undoubtly the Korelias had shared Nadia’s eugenic nature with this man.  “A special girl to be sure.” He tossed back his head, let out a belly laugh. “Treat her well.”

“We’ve got to go see my parents before lunch.” Nadia tugged on her boyfriend.

“Enjoy your meal.” Oberon gave them a respectful military type bow snapped his heels with a clack that echoed in the marble lobby.  All part of the carriage of an expert fencer.

Watching the Security Chief walk away Sharr said: “Interesting fellow.”

Nadia shrugged glad Kreis was at last gone.  “So are we taking your car to lunch or mine?” she much preferred to take her own.

Putting his arms on her shoulders waiting for the elevator that would lead to the downstairs lab where Nadia’s parents worked Sharr said: “We can go in the Hummer, but I don’t think you want the driver hanging around for the after meal activities.” He smiled patting her bottom.

“Does that mean you’re not going to flip out if I drive?” Nadia teased.

“Sure, just don’t act like we’re on the autobahn.” Sharr kissed her cheek.

“But speed is fun!” Nadia purred. “It’s so funny; you own a car but don’t have a clue how to drive it.” They got into the elevator.

“Hasn’t Oswald recounted for you how he tried to teach me?”

“Yeah, I here it didn’t go well.  We can go in the Maserati, I promise to behave.”

=================================================================================

This falls under things I write, just because ”I need to know about my characters” , though I did use the second part at GenKon INC. as part of a flashback in the second installment as the meeting between Sharr and Oberon is sort of ironic and a “close call”.
